Just an introduction

So, I have decided to start a new blog, devoted to my historical (in particular Regency) influenced costume making, a hobby that I quite recently have started, but it is indeed a dream come true. The really difficult part is to write a first blog entry that really makes sense, however, and I am far from sure I am going to succeed with that. I have written what you should know about me and my costuming approaches on the "About this blog" page. But it is worth repeating that I consider myself as an artist rather than a reenactor, and therefore I find it more important for me to put my personal touches to my creations than making them as historical accurate as possible. I do not have the right resources to do so either, since I am a rather poor university student (I am studying history and cultural heritage and have only a semester left). So no pure silks or brocades for me. Instead I am completely confident with using artificial modern materials as long as they appeal to me and has some sort of historical feel, and another really fun fact, I think, is that I search for them at thrift stores and charity shops. I have made two Regency gowns from vintage (I think) curtains; two gowns I am very satisfied with and that I of course will post pictures of eventually. That is both economically and adds do a lot of good for the creativity. The most important aspect is after all to make even another pretty dress, even though you know you definitely have no need for it... =P Oh, and of course I even make underpinnings and accessories! There are so many talented seamstresses out on the Internet that had inspired me for years; seamstresses with different levels of historical accuracy but all with the same very high sense of style. I am just a newbie in this world that brings so much fun and happiness to life.

I also have to say that I am very devoted to drawing and writing as well, something that is even more obvious on my Deviantart page (of course) =).  The ability to make that kind of dresses that my female original characters wears can't be described in any other words than magic; I have wanted to make those clothes for years but didn't know I was skilled enough to do. So now all I have to do is waiting for the secret door that leads to my own universe to appear inside my closet...what a wonderful thought! =P

Anyway, I think that is all I want to say for the moment. It is impossible to describe every single aspect of a blog in the very first entry of it; that would even spoil the excitement. But I am indeed really looking forward to all the fanciness I can promise will come in a near future. I hope you will find it inspirational that it's possible to make pretty costumes even at a more prosaic budget.
