About this blog

I have always dreamt of having my own costume blog, and of course even more; sewing my own pretty historical influenced costumes; even though I neither own a sewing room nor unlimited resources to buy the fanciest of fabrics. But that doesn't stop me from doing what I love, making pretty costumes. All that really is required to achieve this is creativity and an artistic mind - and even another visit at the local thrift store... Yes, a majority of the costumes I have made for myself this far is made from curtains and other pieces of fabric that have been found in second hand shops (preferably those who are engaged in charity). Therefore I have to explain that my costumes not are the most accurate ones, concerning historical accuracy, but for me that is absolutely not a problem because I consider myself as an artist rather than an reenactor. Few things makes my imagination flow more freely than historical fashion, but for me it is very important to put a personal touch to my creations as well. This hobby is meant to bring happiness and an enchanting feeling of getting in touch with another universe, and it really does!

My absolutely favorite period is the late 18th and early 19th centuries, so therefore my costume making focuses on exactly these eras, and I have to confess - I can't get enough of Regency dresses! But I am constantly learning new things and would really love to sew lovely Edwardian outfits in the future as well. I am even a great fan of most things steampunk!

I am actually a newbie in the historical costuming world; it has not even been a year since I made myself my first Regency dress. But I have been drawing costumes for all the paper dolls that depict the original characters that populates my own fantasy universes for years, and admiringly followed several extremely talented historical seamstresses out on the Internet in an almost equally long period. I am a completely self-taught costumer who learns from studying other people's works and figuring things out, so there is a lot of experimentation constantly going on in my head.

Except sewing my other passions are drawing and writing; I am actually dreaming of becoming published! But one dream that now has come true in my life is that I have become able to make myself the right clothes for visiting my own steampunk influenced fantasy universes, where the charm of the Regency period meets the comforts of our modern times. Oh, and I almost forgot, there is even a lot of magic in those places... And I do not even think it is necessary to say that my costume making and literary works often is closely connected.

So, lastly I just want to say that I really do hope you want to join me on my costume making adventure; an adventure that just have started.
